What you do while your children play

This is your break too. We built the room around it.

  • A parent sitting at a table with a coffee in a bright, sunlit room

    Sit down. Actually sit.

The tree in the middle of the room has a table and seating around it, with outlets and wifi. Bring a coffee or grab one nearby.

  • A parent relaxing in an armchair, looking at their phone

Be on your phone. We mean it.

Answer the email, scroll, take the call. Our team is in the room and the houses keep the children busy. You stay in the building, and that's the whole rule.

  • Two friends laughing together over drinks at a wooden table

    Talk to other grown-ups.

Same ages, same stage, same winter. The bench under the tree is where the playdates get planned.

How a visit works

From booking to home, in four simple steps.

  1. Book online

Pick a day and session, pay, and sign the waiver on the same screen.

  2. Say your name at the door

Our team has you on the list. That's the whole check-in.

  3. Children play, you breathe

Your children explore the little town of play houses while you stay close and take a breather.

  4. Take one idea home

Every session ends with one short, doable thing to try this week, sent to you after your visit.

A little more support, when they need it.

For families looking for more than open play, 1:1 sessions offer focused, individual support.

Common Questions

Here’s the quick stuff parents usually want to know before their first visit.

Still wondering? Talk to our team
Do I need to stay with my child?

Yes. Parents stay on site for the whole visit, so this is not drop-off or childcare. There's seating by the tree in the middle of the studio, so you can sit close and take a breather. How closely you stay depends on your child's age: younger children (about 1 to 3) need you nearby, 3 to 5 year olds need lighter supervision, and with older children you know best. Parents are ultimately responsible for their children.

Do I book each station separately?

No. All 6 stations are included in one open play session, so your child can move between the houses and play wherever they like.

What ages is Modern Minis for?

Modern Minis is made for young children, from toddlers up to early elementary age. [AGE RANGE TBD]

How much does it cost?

Open play is $15 per child, with no added fees at checkout. [ADULT AND INFANT PRICING TBD]

How do I book, and what if a session is full?

Pick a session, pay online, and your spot is reserved. Each session is limited to 20 children, so book online to guarantee a place. If a session shows as full, we'll point you to other times. [CANCELLATION AND CHANGE POLICY TBD]

Is open play therapy?

Open play is play-based and therapy-informed, with a purpose behind every house, but it isn't a therapy session. For families who'd like more focused support, one-on-one sessions are available through Modern Counseling and Wellness Co.
